Salerno, December 1, 2018 – Major success for director Stefania Capobianco, originally from Gaeta, who—together with Salerno-born director Francesco Gagliardi—won the Best Feature Film Award at the 72nd Salerno International Film Festival with the film Mò Vi Mento – Lira di Achille.
The award ceremony took place at the Cineteatro Augusteo in Piazza Amendola, in the heart of the city lit up by the famous “Luci d’Artista,” and featured numerous prominent figures from the world of cinema. The event was hosted by Debora Caprioglio and Gaetano Stella, in the presence of the Festival President, Mario De Cesare.
Capobianco and Gagliardi were awarded the prestigious trophy depicting the Tenth Muse, created by sculptor Enzo Assenza, the official symbol of the Festival. The jury’s motivation for the award read:“For its grotesque and almost Buñuelian tone, which critiques the eternal and seemingly incurable Italian vices,”
highlighting the film’s artistic and satirical value.
During the same evening, Stefania Capobianco also received a commemorative plaque from the Mayor of Pompeii, Pietro Amitrano, for having showcased the territory of the famous Campanian town in the film, helping to promote its image through a modern and engaging cinematic language.
Mò Vi Mento – Lira di Achille is a surreal and witty comedy that blends political satire, current affairs, humor, and film tourism, reaffirming Stefania Capobianco’s creative and ironic vision
