Rome, February 22, 2020 – In the splendid setting of Palazzo Ferrajoli, overlooking Piazza Colonna, the sixth edition of the Anita Ekberg Award took place—a prestigious honor promoted by Sara Iannone, president of the association L’Alba del Terzo Millennio, in tribute to Fellini’s muse and the legacy of great Italian cinema.
Among the evening’s honorees was director, screenwriter, and producer Stefania Capobianco, who received the award for her work on the film Mò Vi Mento – Lira di Achille, which she co-wrote and co-directed with Francesco Gagliardi. The film, praised for its sharp wit and distinctive style, has garnered widespread acclaim both nationally and internationally.
The award comes at a particularly meaningful moment for Capobianco, in the centenary year of Federico Fellini’s birth, a filmmaker who deeply inspires her. In accepting the award, she reflected on the revolutionary impact of Fellini’s feminine perspective in Italian cinema and announced the start of a new film project: “A film that will tell the story of Italy through the eyes of a little girl. It will be an intense, poetic work, predominantly female in nature. A symbolic tribute to Fellini’s narrative universe and his way of portraying women in all their complexity.”
The evening, rich in the dreamlike and evocative atmosphere that characterized Fellini’s world, was graced by the presence of numerous artists and notable figures from the entertainment and business worlds, including Valeria Marini, Rino Barillari, and Lando Buzzanca.
This recognition reaffirms Stefania Capobianco’s artistic sensitivity and cultural identity, marking her as a leading voice in a kind of cinema that blends vision, social commitment, and aesthetic depth
