Special Recognition for Cinematic Merit Awarded to Stefania Capobianco at the Venice International Grand Prize of the Golden Lion

Rome, June 14, 2019 – In the prestigious setting of the Mechelli Hall at the Regional Council of Lazio, the official ceremony of the Venice International Grand Prize of the Golden Lion took place. Since 1947, this historic award has celebrated Italian excellence in the fields of art, entertainment, and entrepreneurship.

In the presence of the Vice President of the Regional Council, Hon. Giuseppe Emanuele Cangemi, and the Prize Committee—comprising notable figures such as Sen. Mario Baccini, Dr. Sileno Candelaresi, Lawyer Carmelo Monaco, Comm. Walter Arbib, and Lawyer Leopoldo Lombardi—prestigious honors were awarded to individuals who have distinguished themselves for exceptional achievements.

Among the key honorees was director and writer Stefania Capobianco, who received the Honorary Scroll for Cinematic Merit, an award recognizing the artistic and cultural value of her work in the field of cinema.

Stefania Capobianco has established herself in the national film landscape for the originality and depth of her work, which blends social engagement, visual storytelling, and the enhancement of Italian heritage. Among her most notable projects is the documentary Mediterranean Diet: Example to the World, produced in collaboration with RAI Cinema and starring Franco Nero, which was screened at UNESCO’s headquarters in Paris.

Equally significant is her direction of the film Mò Vi Mento – Lira di Achille, which won Best Feature Film in the official selection of the 72nd Salerno International Film Festival.

This marks yet another important milestone for Stefania Capobianco, who continues to stand out as one of the most compelling and perceptive voices in contemporary Italian cinema.
