SIGNORI SI PARTE - Historic Trains Around Italy

SIGNORI SI PARTE - Historic Trains Around Italy
Treni storici in giro per l’Italia
From steam locomotives to the iconic Centoporte, and the legendary rapid Arlecchino train, a symbol of the economic boom of the '60s, the six episodes of the first season of the TV program "ALL ABOARD - Historic Trains Around Italy" showcase an authentic Italy. They traverse seas and mountains, ancient villages and art cities, on a journey that combines storytelling, emotion, and discovery.
The project is a collaboration between DirAmare and Fondazione FS Italiane of the Italian State Railways Group, with sponsorship from the Ministry of Infrastructure and Transport. It targets viewers who love travel, focusing on the beauty, memory, and cultural identity of places.
The journey starts in Naples, where it all began. On October 3, 1839, a pivotal date marking a transformation for an entire region, Italy’s first railway, the Naples-Portici, was inaugurated. The program begins here, taking viewers to the National Railway Museum of Pietrarsa, unique in Italy for its rich materials and captivating location. The first episode continues exploring the majestic Temples of Paestum and the enchanting Pertosa-Auletta Caves, immersing viewers in the ancient history and natural wonders of Cilento.
The second episode features Friuli Venezia Giulia, starting in Pordenone and traveling along the Pedemontana Railway, passing Sacile and Lake Cornino, reaching Gemona, amidst urban frescoes, biodiversity, and stories of resilience.
The third episode moves to Sicily, from Palermo to Agrigento, along the Railway of the Temples: a journey through art, myth, and legend. It leads viewers to Porto Empedocle, hometown of Andrea Camilleri, and the breathtaking beauty of the Scala dei Turchi, framed by sky and sea.
In the heart of Abruzzo, the fourth episode traverses the renowned Trans-Siberian of Italy: from Sulmona, city of confetti and Ovid, to the ancient forests of the Maiella. Each stop offers a chance to rediscover ancient crafts, like the bobbin lace of Pescocostanzo, and authentic flavors, like the rustic cuisine of Castel di Sangro.
The fifth episode takes us to Tuscany, with a slow, enchanting journey through the timeless landscapes of the Val d’Orcia. Aboard a steam locomotive, it departs from Siena and reaches Bagno Vignoni, with its timeless charm, then Montalcino with the rolling hills of the renowned Brunello and the postcard-perfect Cypress trees of San Quirico d’Orcia.
The sixth episode concludes the first season, beginning in Milan with the famous Arlecchino, taking viewers to Novara, where the journey continues on a historic steam locomotive. From here, exploration of the Valsesia railway begins, passing Borgosesia and reaching Varallo, amidst spirituality, art, and ancient flavors, in a finale bidding farewell until the next discoveries that Italy's railways will reveal in future seasons.
